No traffic, open lane, good visibility, what do you drive at on the freeway when going for a drive?

I personally drive at 75-78. I try to stay below 80 and think this reduces my chance of getting a ticket. I find it difficult to drive slower. I know cops have a saying, over 9 you're fine, but over 10 you're mine.

edit: I can't make a poll.

CHP told me that 10 over would have been a warning, but 15 over he had to ticket me.

I think below 80 is pretty safe, but that it soooo tough to maintain....

sometimes i try to drive 70 mph but its hard in so cal traffic. 70 is considered pretty slow =(

If I am in the two left lanes i try to go 75-80 to just flow with traffic. I move to the right lane if I see cars behind me.

depending if I drive the beater or the S. On the beater I drive about 70-75 because it cant go any faster, on the S I usually cruise anywhere from 75-85. But most of the time Im driving 10 mph because of the beautiful SoCal OC traffic!!!

That saying about the over 9 thing makes no sense. Anything over 9 is 10, yet anything over 9 is fine, but 10 is not.

i will not drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.
