^ Yes, yes, I know. I just thought I'd give it a anyway.
Well in that case I want to go see that movie as well. Looked pretty good and I don't usually like horror/thriller movies because they are so predictable.

How can that not get "Best Picture"?
How can Cameron NOT get Best Director?

Everyone on the film pointed to Cameron as the creative juggernaut behind the picture, holding the whole project in his brain.

And we're talking about the TOP GROSSING MOVIE of all time, featuring a fully-realized planet, complete with indigenous peoples, vegetation, etc...dreamed up over 10 years and resulting in a re-invention of the way movies are shot...

ALL FROM THE MIND OF JAMES CAMERON!

I dunno. Seems like that trumps pretty much anything you could put against it.

you really thought avatar was original? im not talking storyline pocohontas criticisms. im talking the "fully realized planet" and whatnot crap. none of that was any bit original. watch a few animations where its all been visualized before. blue elves? thats original? big beasts?

falls really short in the creative aspect dude. i dont think you watch enough scifi and fantasy.

Nine was released on Christmas day 2009 and the lovely bones had a limited release on December 11 in the US. It wasn't officially released until January 15th 2010 but the limited release is why it was nominated.
Nine as in the animation "9"?

Was released 9/9/2009 if I remember correctly...

Academy Awards is somewhat of a popularity contest.. that said, I don't believe AVATAR should have won Best Picture. Perhaps best Director, however based on who are casting the votes I could see how that happened.

I'm going to have to agree with S2koupe.

featuring a fully-realized planet
Lucas came up with galaxies and planets...
complete with indigenous peoples, vegetation, etc
One race of people...Watch Lord of the Rings
...dreamed up over 10 years and resulting in a re-invention of the way movies are shot...
I must have missed something on how it was shot, I thought it was mostly rendered in 3D (although it was the best 3D I've seen, but when you spend half a billion dollars...)

It was a good movie, but I, like many others I know, only saw it for the animation.
