You can lit a fire in huntington also, but again, the beach is more ghetto than manhattan. and wear something to the pits, dumbarse burns old wood all the time, all the nails from the 2 by 4 is in the sand waiting to penerate a hole in you foot

I don't know how great the water is, but Dockweiler beach has fire pits and isn't too far from Santa Monica.
Some more info.

meth, like i said last night, i think dockweiler shouldnt be discounted too quickly. the beach that is just across from imperial blvd, on the other side of the RV parking was fine when i went last weekend. there actually were a diverse group of ppl pitching canopies. there honestly wasnt much to look at in terms of other ppl really. i was there in my own group gathering. we had our own fire pit too.
however, the lot a bit further south with the hanggliding at one end was much more like a slice of mexico when i went like a month ago, fwiw. lots of families having a fun time i suppose. the beach sand didnt seem as nice as the north lot as well. however, there was more parking.
