Dont deal with washington mutual until they are fully integrated with chase. I got 7000 dollars of fraud on my account which was never refunded. Bank of America and American Express have great service, but thats why they have fees. With wamu, everything is free, but you get what you pay for.

BTW: Good time to check your credit report. Its free.
Is it true that every time you check your credit report, your credit will go down by a little? By the way, do you have any authentic sites you'd recommend if I wanted to check mine?

That is false, when you check your own credit it is considered a soft inquiry and when you apply for a credit card it is considered a hard inquiry. So basically you could check your credit as much as you want. I use truecredit.com

So i'm guessing all the free credit report sites are fake/scams?

Not really, but a lot of them use sneaky techniques to sign you up for monthly monitoring (without your awareness) when you sign up to check your credit score.

I was always under the impression that there is an effect if your credit is run by others. At least this is what I kept hearing when I applied for a loan on a condo.

with freecreditreport.com, its actually in the fine print that you get a free trial period and have to cancel before that, otherwise you will be billed automatically.

btw, o.p. glad you're finally making some progress w/ the situation. its crazy how easy it seems to be with cc fraud. i get paranoid everytime i do a fill up!
