Have you tried going to an actual wamu location and talking to one of the account reps?
I tried that when this incident first started.
They told me they don't handle credit card fraud issues at the bank level which makes sense.

Why waste 3 hours of your life, when you can call in to the stolen dept and cancel the card. Open up an AMEX and have customer service in 2.5-4 mins?

Even if they resolved you issues today, would you want to keep this card still?

They have records that you made a call from your home phone? I call BS on that because depending on the call center, most of them don't have caller ID capability that can identify your phone number when you call in unless you enter it on their IVR, and even then sometimes it doesn't go through.

Also, check to see the location of the cash advance. Some places do not require an PIN if you do it in person. For example, you can just walk into some bank with an ID matching the CC and get a cash advance without a PIN. The problem is that they said you used your PIN....

I am guessing that you actually have a home phone in addition to your cell phone??? If so, ask her how the hell did you make call from your home in CA and get a cash advance in NY the same day?

Edit: do you shred your financial documents?

I wish I could but I can't just close it now without paying this balance for these cash advances.
However this gets turns out I will be closing this account.

hmm makes sense.

I had it happen to me once on a cc. I think it was a Providian CC that was linked to wamu. Someone did a balance transfer over to my account for $5k. I caught it within 2 hours of it happening and called in for fraud transaction and they took care of it.. Wondering why you're getting grief for it..

wow this is amazing. that sucks

i have a Chase credit card and I got scammed on Ebay and paid with Paypal. Chase reversed my charges within minutes and sided with me 100%. I have had the card for about 3-4 years and this is my first issue. Hopefully they stay decent with their service.

Gl with the resolution man
