Walked Away From Ticket.......
This morning, on the way to work, I was cut off by a Mazda RX-8. I got a bit upset and let my emotions take over. Not the smartest thing, but I wasn't feeling very smart. I proceed to speed up, as does he, and eventually I overtake him and keep going.
Well, turns out a cop was watching both of us (he cut me off as we merged onto a freeway, purposely leaving out details though) as we entered the freeway full throttle.
The cop passes him and goes for me, as I was going a fair deal faster than the Mazda, swerving in and out of traffic in fury.
I see the cop coming up behind me and know I'm in trouble. Of course the lights go on, and I pull over....
CHP: Good morning, see you're going a little quickly today.
Me: Sorry, sir. I guess I'll just be honest: I got cut off by the yellow Mazda back there, and I guess I just lost my cool. I had to pass him and it was stupid.
CHP: License, registration, and insurance.
Me: Gladly, sir.
[He goes away and writes stuff down, then comes back]
CHP: You realize that you admitting what you did means I can charge you with misdemeanor road-rage?
Me: I do, sir. But I'd rather be honest to you than try to make up excuses.
CHP: The next time I see you out here driving like that, I'm going to hit you with the misdemeanor and the speeding ticket, do you understand? My advice to you is to calm down and slow down. You cutting people off and driving like a maniac doesn't make it any better just because you got cut off.
Me: I completely understand and apologize. I let my emotions take over and it was utterly childish. Thank you for understanding, sir.
CHP: Have a nice day.
First: I'm so thankful I got out of this with my record untainted and license still active.
Second: I really respect that the cop could be real with me. I haven't received a moving violation in three years, but prior to that, each time I did I would make up some nonsense story (and never got away with it). I guess the cop was glad that I could just come clean and admit why I was being such a fool.
Point of this story? Don't know, I'm at work and have free time.

well I'm sure the cop had his morning usual (DONUT and COFFEE) and who knows he might have even got laid the night before. Good thing you saved yourself that point, fine, and or driving school.

you're most definitely lucky.
although for future reference...i would never self-incriminate myself of a misdemeanor road-rage charge.
if a dickhead cop did write you a ticket...at least you can still have the misdemeanor charge dropped if you didn't already self-incriminate yourself.
but good job on the good luck today.
