My family gets together and does some research/talks about the different things on the ballots while we fill out our sample ballots.
My mom actually sets up/runs the polls for our district, and all of those boxes have been lining her halway for the past two weeks.

Families that sit and discuss anything these days should be applauded.

Haven't voted yet............which prop is that?
A yes vote increases cigarette tax by $2.60 per pack.
Just for discussion's sake, I voted for it (sorry Beb, Walter, Alejo, Ted, etc. etc. ). I don't smoke, so the cost increase will not affect me, and I think anything that has the effect of discouraging smoking amongst minors is ok in my book. However, it doesn't look like it's going to pass...

But that's only for the pres, and we weren't voting for that today.
But if the elected officials bow to their corporate benefactors and do not represent us, is it still a democracy??
"a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them

"The term democracy indicates a form of government where all the state's decisions are exercised directly or indirectly by a majority of its citizenry through a fair elective process.

Thanks.
Yeah my parents are the type that stress that if you truely want to make a difference you must make you voice heard. (No matter how small it may be in the big picture)
Since my dad is retired, he also does a lot of research and lets us really know what some of these propositions are and things hidden inside of them. We all give our view on things and usually come to a happy medium or understanding of the proposition etc.
