Default Volk Le28 18", what do you know about them?

Doing some research on these right now, would like to know if anyone has these and any info would be appreciated while i am searching.

1)how much $ in 18" with tires
2)how much do they weigh

3) What differences do they make to the way the car handles if no other mods have been done compared to the stock 17" rims?

4) with 18's is a different offset required? Will this change the handling?
5) Will they rub?

Thanks in advance,

Josh.

1)how much $ in 18" with tires
-depends, where u buy, new used, color, width? what tires?
2)how much do they weigh
-same as CE28, might search, as they've been posted before, but this will also be affected by width/tires.

3) What differences do they make to the way the car handles if no other mods have been done compared to the stock 17" rims?
-similar high speed manuverablity, slightly harder to turn at slow speeds (due to larger contact patch). Again, will depend on width/ tires...

4) with 18's is a different offset required? Will this change the handling?
-offset is detirmeind by width, not diameter. 7.5 front and 8.5 rear (common sizes) go +50 on all 4. if 9'' in the back, go +63. Handling answered in quesiton 3.

5) Will they rub?
-guess what... depends on width/tires. also improper offset, and/or lowering the car will affect it.

FYI josh. i have 18x7.5 fr 18x8.5 rear, lowered 1.5 inches and no rubbing. 'stretching' 215/40/18 front and 235 (or 245, depending on tire brand)/35(40)/18 rear. no rubbing at all.

Thanks for the info duff!

ok, here's some info about the tires that are on the rims, i am unsure right now what the rim sizes are:

Rear Tires are Falken st115 255/35/18
Front tires 215/40/18

Now this means nothing to me, what do you think about these sizes?

If you're thinking about getting rims, you should also consider lowering the car in some way (springs... coilovers... cutting stock springs... ).

Usually when a car has bigger wheels at the stock ride height, it starts to look a little goofy because the tire is skinnier than the wheel gap. Lowering the car corrects this auto fashion faux pas.

As for the weight difference, you probably won't notice that the wheels feel "lighter" than your stockers. However, you are getting a wider contact patch, with no weight penalty. If you put HEAVY wheels on your car, you would definitely feel it in a bad way.

Well i have read about 50 posts on the search function now.

Seems that volks are extremely light and the rotational mass shouldn't be too different.

I have lowered a car before on just springs and i will NEVER do that again, it was awful. If i do get these rims i will not lower the car, i want to remain largely stock, and lowering on 18's will most likely rub and will def. be a PITA around LA being low. Not sure i care if there is a big gap, there is one now and it doesn't bug me.

Again, it's all about the offset. The Evasive Motorsports S2K was rolling on 18x8 +56 front and 18x9.5 +62 rear Work Meister S1's slammed on BC coilovers and no rubbing issues. And he as rolling a 235 width tire up front and a 265 width tire in the rear

Offset, Camber setting, Rolled fenders will all prevent you from rubbing

Thanks for the advice guys.

With the tire sizes that i listed a few posts up, will it be possible to retain the stock offset or not? Are the sizes i mentioned too wide? Thoughts on the sizes mentioned would be appreciated!

The thing with Volks and their 18" wheels is that they have very limited offsets and widths for the S2000. If you really want an 18" wheel, go with Work as you can get custom offsets
