But I gotta say, some of the best/freshest sushi I've had have been from some Korean owned joints in K-town

Try to stay away from places that say "all you can eat sushi". 99.9% of the time, it's junk

Or perhaps Urasawa. Omakase to kill for.
Have you had it?

How does it compare to the omakase at matsuhisa or nobu?

Miyagi's in Hollywood

Haven't been there in years but from what i remember it was good and has a small dance floor so you can dance.
me & my friends used to practically LIVE there a few years ago, esp during the summer.........Th + Fri + Sat + even some Sundays.....LOTSA good times there!

needless to say, we got to know the staff, esp the bartenders+sushi chefs real well, so lota free grub + drinks.

i wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but the eats are surprisingly good for a club/bar. well, actually, it really is supposed to be a restaurant first and foremost.

anyways, if you have deep pocket$$, hit Matsuhisa on La Cienaga in Bev Hills (couple blocks South of the Beverly Center) or Nobu in Malibu. you'll never be able to go to any other sushi joints after those tho.

Yoshida in Pasadena is good. If you like Shabu Shabu, try Kagaya in J-Town. Great Food!

Yoshida on Huntington Dr is pretty good, but a little pricy and portion is small. My friend used to work at Gin Sushi, and their rolls are pretty good, and price is cheaper compared to most Japanese restaurants. Chef there is Japanese and it's Korean own.

Kabuki on Foothill... well, even their employees know that their food is mediocre. IIRC, Omasa in J-town is pretty authentic and their stuff is fresh. I agree with Japanese own Japanese restaurants, if you like authentic sushi. Well, but I do like some of the rolls, which are pretty tasty and creative from the Korean run Japanese restaurants.
