Simon, I have been seriously considering a new Honda to replace my '98 Odyssey van, with over 130,000 miles on it. I really want the Fit but the idea of how s..l..o...w it is, makes me think not. Doesn't it bug you, what a it is? Have you heard any talk about next year's Fit being more powerful, or is my ex-to-be just trying to make me wait so he doesn't pay for it and I do?
Patty,

There are talks about a more powerful Fit to come out. When? I'm not too sure. You can drop a K20 engine in it (RSX motor). That certainly will cure the s..l..o..w

I bought the car not for it's speed/power, but for seating capacity, good mpg, and the different ways you can configure the cabin/cargo area. Things my other car lack. You'll be surprised what you can fit in that little car. A bonus it that they are all made in Japan too.

What's fun is coming out of such an underpowered car into the NSX. That exchange is quite satisfying...always

This feeling will exist from Fit to S2000 as well

Patty, my stepson has a Fit and loves it..........even as a 27 year old, he does not mind the lack of power either........

Yeah, I'm looking at it being another Honda, as my #1 concern/preferenece, mileage as #2, with space as #3. If I move down to the San Diego area as I'm thinking I will, but still have to come up to Lancaster to visit my dad, I want way better than 22 mpg. Also, I like the room it has. My van takes off from a red light, but it accelerates slowly most of the time, as when trying to pass. Maybe a Fit with a stick would actually be an improvement.

I think the fit has enough passing power. (i've only driven the MT) 1st gear is short as hell..Very fun.
