Traffic Ticket - CVC 21453 (a)
I was at complete stop waiting to go straight at an intersection. The light turned green for left turn. I was absent-minded and thought the green light was for going straight, I entered the intersection about half car length. I then realized the green light was not for going straight so I stopped and reversed back to the same spot before. Light turned green and I drove through the intersection.
There was a cop car on the opposite direction who saw what happened. He followed and gave me a cvc 21453 (a) violation.
I did not run through the intersection during red light.
Was the officer correct to give me the ticket? Should I contest the ticket?
Please give your opinion,
Thanks.

Looks like it doesn't have to do with running through. If traffic school is an option, I would just pay it and be more careful.

you're supposed to stop before the limit line and anything passing it would be breaking the law...
fight it if you please.
PS. i heard reversing from a stop at an intersection is bad... it's just what a i heard.

Did you enter the actual intersection or just passed into the crosswalk?
If you were in the crosswalk and never passed the second line into the intersection I would fight it.

I dont think the cop should of given you the ticket. But he did cite you correctly so you would have a hard time fighting it unless you have a logical judge.
But it is true that you broke the law he wrote you up for.

Logical judge.... 99% you'll have a logical judge.
A judge who actually listens to your story prior to making his mind up..... 50% chance.
Good luck, fight it for sure, get your main points across quick and keep it short.... the opposite of my posts.
