1000 steps beach. If you are going to go to San Diego for the Zoo, go to the Wild Animal Park instead.

You can say that for Venice Boardwalk, Disneyland, Magic Mountain and Hollywood also.
I've never been to Venice Boardwalk but it seems like you would go there for a view or to walk around, which doesn't necessarily involve spending money, so I dunno why you brought that up. I don't get how a place like that is overrated. And as for theme parks, which one of them aren't? They're all expensive and a rip off, but you go there for the experience. I guess you can say the same for Din Tai Fung, to me it's pretty crappy and not worth the wait. This is coming from an asian that has had other dumplings and dishes at other restaurants and believe me, they're better than the food at DTF. This place is just like the Kogi Truck, people hype it up way too much.

To the OP, go there if you want to experience the hype, but don't go with high expectations.
