Its nice that the guys with newer alpines don't need the IR for dash controls.

Here is some of the work that Art's tech did for me. Art and his tech are awesome! Thanks! Got the top of the line Apline CDA-9855 with Glide Touch, ipod adapter and XM. Still getting used to the interface. The Glide Touch is something to get used to. Other than that, awesome! Here are the pics.
Looks good Mike Did you upgrade the speakers too?

You still need a dci, its just new versions have a 1/8 jack in the back that makes it so you don't need the IR module.

Alpine Wired DCI - controls specific 2005 head units that are equipped with a 1/8" stereo jack and listed as "wired remote capable". Models in the series CDA-9851, 9853, 9855 etc. are known to work. Verify your HU has wired remote capability before ordering. Note - even though Crutchfield's web site indicates the 9851 in NOT wired capable, we have a 9851 in the lab that works fine.

Thanks man! That is the number one question that I have got since I've had it. The answer is no. I the near future I'll upgrade the speakers, but for now the sound is pretty good with the stockers. Art has aftermarket speakers with the honda HU. And it sound amazing.

I decided not to get this till later. I heard it was a $100 part. Seems like a waste of money for something you'll only use the volume for.

Actually, no. My DCI actually adds functions tot he dash controls. It allows me to change playlists and seek foward and back from the dash controls alone. Theres an added option that will automatically adjust your volume relative to your speed but, I didn't hook this up.
