i work in the hollywood hills and my reception is suspect. at the top of the hill, i get full bars, at the bottom of the hill i get full bars, in the middle, it is shaky, i don't know why.
the price is unbeatable yes, but if you can't use it in your home, you might be pissed off all the time cuz it isn't working for you. the best thing to do is find a friend w/ tmobile and see if their phone works in your area. but hey if you don't plan to use it at home, then out in LA the tmobile pretty much works everywhere for me.

i switched from t-mobile to verizon because the reception was pretty bad. it would say i had full reception but i'd always have dropped calls or the calls would be really fuzzy to the point where i'd rather pay more for verizon than get frustrated at my t-mobile service..t-mobile is a lot cheaper, but you get what you pay for.. you'll be able to tell if you switch to t-mobile that the service is gonna be nowhere near the quality of verizon. that new blackberry phone is awesome though.. i wish vzw had it!

I have to say... in defense of ATTingular... the reception is actually quite good.
You should know by the way... many reception issues can be traced to the cell phone itself in some cases...
Case-in-point: My old MPx200 WISHED, DREAMS, PRAYS that it had HALF the signal strength of my K700 or my old P900.

To the folks having troubles: Are your phones the older TDMA or the newer GSM technology?
When I switched (within AT&T) from a TDMA to GSM phone, I got signals in elevators, at work, and even on the floor of a convention center, which was unheard of before! Mike

Well this even applies to GSM phones itself.. Compared to each other.
For example. If you have a Sony-Ericsson T616 or 610... do yourself a favor and upgrade so something like a T630/637. The 610/616s are notorious for bad signal quality. Same with the T68, the GX32/22, the MPx200....
look up reviews on the phone you plan to purchase just in case.
Here are some places..

tmobile is probably the next worse experience ive had after sprint. verizon is by far the best. ive also had nextel before and it isnt even comparable to verizon.
i was just like you...i was w/ verizon then went to tmobile because of their great deals/packages. i regret it. you get what you pay for. stay w/ vzw.
