Default Strange Noise

Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.. I took my car to the dealer and they inspected it, said nothing was wrong, and then charged me $85.00 for the inspection. I know this noise isn't right though and I want to fix it before it becomes a horrible job to do.

I have this strange noise coming from the right rear of my car.. with the top down it makes a clicking noise like the noise your gas cap makes when you put it on all the way, but like one click..

With the top on it makes more of a popping noise.

It sounds like it comes from the right rear wheel area mostly.. It makes the noise mostly in the first two gears. I can hear it when I go over speed bumps, or making right turns.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions where I can point a dealer to fix?
Thanks!

Hmmm... that doesn't sound right, and it was kind of messed up forthe dealer to charge you for it. There was a TSB out for noises from the rear, but it wasn't for clicking, it was more for a creaking noise. That had to do with re-greasing the spindle.

I would post this in the Under the Hood forum and get more info. I seem to recall some clicking noises turning into some really bad differential problems.

Sounds like you have the classic sympton of the Rear Axle nut problem. As already mentioned, there was a TSB out for this where they just retorque the nut. Check out some of these threads to see if any of these match your situation:

In either case, the noise is not normal and you should have a dealer fix it if you're still under warrantee. Try to PM Matt (s2ki handle: pierceman). He works over at Honda World and probably can help you out.

Hope that helps.

If it is a warrantable issue, be sure to get a refund on the inspection fee!!

Thanks for the advice! I read the other threads and that sounds exactly like what is occurring.

I would have totally forgotten about the inspection fee! The car is still under all warrenties, so I'll make sure to receive a refund.

It's either that or a bad wheel bearing.

ahhh beat me to it, yea i would say wheel bearing, if you can jack up your car and spin the wheel, if it binds its most likely a wheel bearing, or if you can grab it and try and move the wheel and the wheel has slop in it when moving it side to side its the wheel bearing.
