Default Spot Smog Inspection - Pasadena

Folks, I just passed a Pasadena PD spot smog check point on San Gabriel and San Pasqual, on my way south bound. A good alternative would be to take Rosemead south bound or Los Robles.

Thank goodness I drove the Odyssey today and not the boosted S.

Now, who's S13 was that on the roller, getting pinched? OUCH! I hope everything worked out....

do they tow your car or just issue you a state ref ticket?

i've been seeing a couple of these around, and i guess i m always lucky on the other side of the road going different direction

should start a sticky so people can update when they see one...
Bosco

they'll give you a citation to a state ref. they can't tow you.

FU#$KCK CALIFORNIA!!!!!!

Just another way to make money. God I hate this state's B.S.

I want to know how they demanded he get on a roller? They randomly have him pull over? Where is the probable cause, where are the RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE?!?!?!

I would think you could tell them to Eff off because they have no reason to just randomly point you to the roller, that's against right of public passage isn't it?

plus...... if you were in a rush to get somewhere, it's really unfair to force you to delay your trip if you haven't even done anything illegal or to provoke such an experience. what if you were late to work? or you needed to get somewhere before a store closed? bet if you told that to a cop, they'd laugh....

^ Right.

This is entrapment at the very least. Honestly imagine loosing your job over this.

When will California wake up? Sadly they won't. Majority of Californians like this situation.

^ TAX TAX TAX and when the people complain about "too much tax" just call it a "fee" or "toll" and then use "fee, toll, tax, fee, toll, tax, fee, toll, tax".

Way to rape the people of the USA.

Hey, I feel you guys and your arguments. Arbitrarily picking me out from a crowd is as ****ed up as would racial-profiling be. On the one hand, I would really hate to be singled out and be stripped of my time and dignity, should I be pulled over because I "fit" a profile. On the other hand, as a parent of two small children, I am thankful beyond the heavens if the police stopped a gang banger before he was about to make a drive-by through the use of profiling him/her(what are the chances of that?).

At the end of the day, I think these smog check points are ridiculous. There are gross polluters driving around in their 1980 diesel Benzes and 1985 Nissan Sentras who are billowing black smoke from light to light. These check points don't hit their intended targets. Unless it's a lowered car with an exhaust they're really after.
