Default Speed Ventures @ Horse Thief Mile 10/13-14

For those of you wanting to take your S2000 on a real race track, but unsure about spending a bunch of money to see if you like it... have we got an event for you!

The weekend of October 13th and 14th, Speed Ventures will be running the challenging and fun Horse Thief Mile at Willow Springs Motorsports Park in Rosamond. (about 80 miles from Los Angeles) We'll be running in the counter-clockwise direction on Saturday and then clockwise on Sunday. (It makes for two very different courses, and there's a $30 discount if you drive both days. It's $130 for one day or $230 for two) The speeds on this track are moderate as the emphasis is placed on driver skill rather than horsepower. There are a variety of different types of turns and elevation changes that make this course an excellent learning place.

For beginners, our rookie school is only $30 extra, and that includes both classroom and on-track instruction.

Here's a link to more info about the event and how to register:

Yep.

You'll learn about driving line, car/spin control, and track safety/etiquette.

Hey stranger!!!

Did you intentionally leave the price out as a sales scheme......or was that an oversight???? Hahaha

$30 discount off of what?!?!

-Hockey

p.s. For all those who say, click the link.....that is weak. If your gonna post "we've got a deal", then tell us the deal!

p.p.s. Drew and I go waaay back on this site and I consider him a friend. So don't think I'm taking a mean shot at him either.

I was going to do this as an outing for my school's SAE club but the guy with the subie is broke (speeding ticket) and I would be the only one driving.

Hmmmmm David, I guess you didn't read the title of the thread... "ONLY $130 PER DAY" Just in case others were similarly challenged... I've now added it to my first post.

Hockey still hasn't forgiven me for taking him for a "spin" at Spring Mountain Raceway a few years ago...

'fraid so... if you've never been on track before. Driving fast on a racetrack really is different from driving fast on the street. There are also the meanings of the various flags and other info that you really need to get before going out on track.

If you've never run with Speed ventures before, but have driven on a racetrack previously with a similar group or have completed some kind of performance driving school, you can skip our rookie school. You will need to stay for the second part of the driver's meeting where we'll cover rules that are specific to Speed Ventures, but there's no charge for that. For $30... our rookie school is a real bargain. If you're at all unsure about your ability... I suggest you participate.
