Mike, if you already have a motorcycle helmet that's one thing, but don't buy one. After your first track day or two, you'll need an SA rated helmet. For the run group I was in Saturday, an SA 2000 helmet was mandatory.
I looked on the web but could not find what ratings are better, newer, etc...are the numbers "year designators" or something???
Sorry, didn't mean to jack the thread to helmets.

Here's the skinny on helmets:
the number is in fact a year. A helmet certification is good for 10 years, so a 95 rated helmet is good until 2005. The letter says what type it is. An M rated helmet is for motorcycles on the street. An SA rated helmet is for auto racing. An SA rated helmet offers more protection and they're also lined with a flame retardant material such as nomex.
Your first time out, they usually let you on with a motorcycle helmet sice you won't be going too fast, and they don't want to make you buy an SA hekmet until you know if you like tracking. Kevin only needed an M rated helmet since he was in the beginner group. Since I was in advanced, they actually checked my helmet to make sure it was SA2000. (Required in that group)
I'm not driving that w/e, so you're welcome to my helmet if you don't want to use your old Snell.
and now... back to the photos! C'mon Duc... post up!
