I'd hit up either BC or Wantone.

For under or around 1k, depends on what you prefer: quartz or automatic? What other features are important to you? Dressy, sporty, a mixture of both? For around your pricepoint (aside from the limited edition rose gold variations which run upwards of 2k), the Hamilton Jazzmaster automatic chronographs are fantastic and look amazing. For even less than that, you can get an entry level Hamilton Jazzmaster viewmatic auto. There are a lot of brands within the pricepoint your asking...really depends on what you like.

Personally, I've been purchasing one to two watches a month since November and a couple new ones for my wife It gets really addicting.

I think you should talk to Jack (Wongawa) as well. He's got an impressive timepiece collection himself!!

Yea, i have been researching a bit. but i like the simpler/cleaner looking ones. some chronographs are nice, as long as not too much is going on. The Omega Seamaster has always been a watch i wanted, TAG Carrera is also nice, and the TAG Monaco V4 looks insane, but i still think i'm not ready to spend that much on a watch just yet. Wish i can afford a IWC!! super pimp! Basically looking for a what i can wear on dressier nights and a watch for more casual days (larger faces), different watch for differnt occasions. fakes ftl!

Maybe I'm just uneducated, but I really want an automatic Movado Museum. It's a nicely made watch for a price someone my age shouldn't be ashamed to pay. It's simplistic, but that's part of why I like it. Here
