It TOTALLY depends on where you are going to be spending your time for work/school/whatever. Maybe Irvine is a really nice neighborhood, but if you have to commute to downtown LA for work, you'll hate it.

Also, "best" does not equal safest or cleanest. It also depends on how old you are, what kind of night life you want, if you have kids, etc.

thanks guys.. yeah i didn't really give much info.. my bad.
i'm actually moving down for school. not sure which one yet, i applied to Pepperdine, Loyola, USC and Whittier... I'm going to be working with a law firm located in Hermosa Beach (which i've heard is pretty nice)...
nope, no kids.. just me and my baby (the S... )
i was just kinda curious about the areas down there. THanks all for your feedback!!! and at this point, safest is my primary concern.

Hermosa is great if you can afford it

But since I moved to south OC, I must say that just Ortega Hwy alone is worth living down here

Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, Foothill Ranch, Landera Ranch, Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Lake Forest. There now, that should keep you busy for quite awhile
