Default SoCal Hotel Recommendations?

Anyone have any good recommendations?

I'm trying to find a nice hotel in either Santa Monica/Sunset, San Diego, or OC (near the beach) for an anniversary with my gf. So I would prefer a pretty nice hotel for around $300/night (flexible), with a nice restaurant nearby, and a fun nightlife.

I've already tried both the Sunset Standard and the downtown Standard, and they are both booked

Your suggestions would help me alot. Thanks in advance!!

W is cool, but it's not "on th beach"... it's downtown, near the SD harbor. The rooftop beach bar is very cool though

This Sat for 1 night. Had general activities planned for a while, but didn't think it would be hard to book a hotel. I'm a NOOB

Hmm... that sounds pretty cool. AND it has a rooftop bar? Cool. I actually have a backup room at the W hotel in Westwood, but I think San Diego would be more fun.
