I agree with everyone but especially i_heart_my_DB8. I did that with an ex-girlfriend and it helped her tremendously.

Ionno but for me I've made it a rule that a guy should never teach his significant other how to drive stick. I guess I've just had a lot of bad luck in the past. But if you absolutely have to, I agree with the other guy. Find an area with lots of space, where nobody else is around.

Are you gonna teach her in the s2k?

I will keep you in my prayers, SUPERCHARGED...

-Let her learn to recognize the clutch engagement point by slowly releasing the clutch in 1st gear with NO GAS. The S2000 will NOT stall. It might take some practice, but it can be done, and it's good to feel how the car "begins" to move.

-Remind her never to move the stick without the clutch in.

-BEFORE she ever bucks the car, tell her that if she ever gets to a point where the car starts shaking, she has 2 options: More gas, or put the clutch in. I guarantee there will be a time when she bucks the car, and won't know what to do.

-Oh yeah... and be patient
like he said...tell her to clutch in and put it in first, and then slowly let the clutch out and the car wil start to move w/o the use of gas. It'll be like when u drive an automatic and u just lettng it go in D and the car will move by itself--it's the exact same thing. But if she lets it out to quick, the car will stall. All she has to do is slowly let the clutch out, but the car will shake a lil bit. After that then changing gears shouldnt be a problem. I hope not.

I taught an old g/f in my 99 Civic Si... she picked it up like a champ and then drove me to San Francisco a couple weekends later in my car.

What the others are saying already is absolutely spot on -- really focus on explaining/demonstrating the basics, and just take it one step at a time in a pressure-free environment, perhaps in small pieces over the course of several sessions so that she can sort of practice "remembering what she learned last time" which can only solidify her understanding of it all.

in the name of E40 - gas brake DIP DIP! doors open mang!!

Gl with teaching her, id say get her used to engagement point, pop it into first, no gas necessary and slowly release clutch untill it starts moving

Does she have any sisters?

Good job on the teaching. Hopefully she'll pick it up soon, and then you can drink all you want when you guys go out
