Default Santa Barbara wine tasting run or Monterey HWY 1 run choose.

I suggested doing an overnighter and people asked me to organize it, so here it is.

I am going to see which one of these runs gets the most votes by the end of the week. Whichever trip gets the most votes is the one I will organize. I have done both trips and they are both awesome. Here are your choices.

Santa Barbara Wine Tasting.

Last time we drove to Santa Barbara and got on a bus, but this year I want to drive it. We will have a nice drive up and through the wine country and then a nice route through the canyons on the way home.

OR

Monterey HWY 1

This is an awesome drive. We can drive up in the morning and spend the day in Monterey going to the Aquarium and checking out the town. There are a lot of S2000 owner up there so we can meet with them for dinner at night. And then on Sunday we would take HWY 1. If you have not done this drive yet it is amazing.

Santa Barbara is going to be about 125 miles one way.

Monterey is going to be about 350 miles one way.

Hi Kuni!
Would you consider wine tasting in San Luis Obispo, which is halfway between the 2? Actually, I think it is the best wine tasting in CA, and much less crowded than Napa/Sonoma or SB. Highway 1 goes all the way there too. I know of a lot of great restaurants/activities in the area too if you decide to coordinate that.

What are the dates John? My wife and I have been talking about doing some wine tasting so this would be a good op.

I am all for the wine tasting. Plus the canyons on the way home sounds awesome!! Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo (as kmp5 suggested) has my vote.

KUNI,
Both sound great. But wouldn't the Santa Barbara/San Louis Obisbo trips be more of a day trip ?

I am for Hwy 1. However, some time it is blocked because of rock slides and or road work. It would be a good idea to check with Highway Patrol or Road Maintenace a few days before the run to ensure open roads on Hwy 1. If the vote goes that way.

Ooooh, this sounds nice! A trip the wife would enjoy.

PCH for me. I don't drink alcohol. Even wine.
