It does not make it OK to be gay. It means you are ignoring the guidelines.
Now the real question is, can Gays go to heaven?
I believe so. God doesn't bar people from heaven based upon works. Getting to heaven is based upon faith. If they believe in Jesus as the savior then I think so.

I'm glad the bible is just a book of suggestions and not the law. Personally, I was worried about this one:
23 " 'Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.
