Default S2Ks at MSRP...Impossible???

This is identical to the thread in the General Section...

Just curious...I live in Los Angeles...and I'm about a week shy of putting in an order for a 2002 Spa Yellow Pearl.

The only thing that stands in my way is that I can't find a freakin' dealer that'll offer me an S2K at MSRP or lower.

I know that the chances of me getting an S2K below MSRP are slim to none, and slim just left the building.

But my final offer is going to be MSRP, out the door...which means they'd have to sell it to me for 30 and some change, and add the destination and tax for it to add up to $32.7K

Anyway, I heard of a dealer in Redlands, CA offering it for MSRP. And my friend got his at Kolbe Honda in Reseda for $30K (he's an assistant manager, but can't hook me up...bastard).

I also know a salesman at Thousand Oaks Honda in the Thousand Oaks Auto Mall, and he insists that there's no way I can get it for MSRP.

Help!

Anyone know any dealerships nearby Los Angeles? Thanks a lot everyone.

I just bought my 2001 at msrp on sunday. well really 500 over, ecause it came with wheel locks, titanium this and that plus a security system, they are out there but the 2002 not a chance first off the msrp will be more then the 2001. approx ~34500 I was told.

For 2002's, the demand is great and the supply is currently limited.....hence, your bargaining power is pretty weak. Unfortunately, there are too many out there that are willing to pay the premium over msrp to get the 2002, and are willing to spend some time on the waiting list on top of that!

I'm not sure about your numbers because msrp for the 2001 is $32.3K. With tax and destination, you are looking at $34K+ out the door. The word is that the 2002 will be pricier than that.

If you are set on your numbers, then you should shoot for a 2001. I'm confident that you can get one for under $33K out the door. For a 2001, priceline.com would be your best bet in locating a dealer at your price. I don't think the 2002's are available on priceline just yet.

Honda is to put out 8000 in the US for 2002. Wait, earn interest, then buy.

I don't think there is a GOOD dealer in San Diego. Cush may be marginally better than San Diego. You might try Priceline.com--that's how I got my 2001 s2000 at MSRP.

There are plenty of dealers in Southern California, so do like I did--find a deal at the right price, bus there and drive home!
