Default Running-

Hello,

Im getting pretty bored of the route im running weekly. I run about 5-8 miles on sunday. I was wondering if there is any recommendations of places to run around Orange county. Im doing the LA marathon in march, so this would be a great start to set up some routes. Who here runs also?

I live in Anaheim/santa Ana and wouldnt mind driving around 60minutes for a good run.

Theres the beach run down PCH. Aside from that hill training in Anaheim hills, Santa Ana Riverbed (not very scenic really) and then some areas in Irvine.

Top of the world, laguna beach. You can run as long as you want there, just map out the trails. I do a 7 mile loop or a 10 mile loop depending on time/how i feel.

parking is easy too. it's in the hills, not the beach. There's also a few other very good trails around the area, but top of the world is the most challenging.

there's a few good, main routes. After that you can get very creative too if you want.

But i don't know the names of the trails, just know the area well. It's not crowded, but there are always people out there dispersed over the trails that can help and a couple of the major trail intersections have maps as well. All in all, it's one giant loop with a lot of options in between; you can always find your way back to the top.

The terrain is very demanding though: for example, the main hill you start and return on has an estimated incline/decline of 700 - 800 feet over 1 mile.

if you can run 15 miles out here, then 26 miles on regular flat ground for the marathon shouldn't be too difficult.
