Default Recommended tire shop

Hi guys!

I just got my s2000 a few days ago, and I posted a thread over in the gallery- my awesome s2000.

I have a ton of questions of course, but first things first- I have Falken ze's on my s2k right now that are brand new. I'd rather switch them out for something else. There's nothing wrong with the tires, I just want to go wider in the rear (255) and I currently have 245's. I also want to go with a different brand (preference). Do any of you know of a shop that I can sell my tires to and buy new ones? Are there any shops that carry bridgestone RE-11's? I'm curious because I'm used to using places like America's Tire and they aren't known for having performance tires.

Thanks in advance!

Any small tire shop will probably buy your used tires, but for pennies on the dollar I'd bet. And they won't be able to give you the best pricing on new tires.

The new RE-11a is a great tire. It's not the very best for the track, but it's real close. If it wears like the RE-11, then it'll last a while as well (at least for a max performance tire).

America's Tire has a price match policy. Tirerack.com and DiscountTireDirect.com (the mail order division of America's Tire) generally have the best pricing. Tirerack.com can educate you a great deal.

I did a lot of eBay used tire buying and selling a couple years ago. The average selling price of a used tire is 50% of list price, less tread ware.

i.e. Lets say you tire new was $200, and came with 10/32nds tread depth when new. Now it has 5/32nds. It would be worth $50.

A great tire shop in the west LA is California Tire off Pico. I purchased a set of Conti Extream DW, they gave me a great price and I was in and out. They also did my aligment, Toe, Camber and Caster for $60! If you go there, ask for Trevor.

America's Tire usually doesn't stock Re-11s, but I can get them delivered the same day if I order them in the morning. I do stock the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I just put on a set on my S5 and they're pretty bad-ass. Call me during the day tomorrow and I'll get you a price.

I usually go to Temple City Auto Repair. Ask for Henry. His brother John will give you higher prices. Henry gives me better prices on anything I buy or do (service) there. Plus Henry repairs my tires for free whereas John's charged me before. He can get most any tire and his prices have always been very good. It's a plus that's he's not too far from my house.

I used to buy tires from Arnel also. Great guy and prices. Far from me now though, but if he's not far from you, definitely worth considering.

I'm looking for a pair of oe size 215/45/17 for the fronts as street tires. What tires are these Falken's? Manufacter year? tread depth remaining?

Congrads on the purchase!
