The thing was that when I came to my friends house. Both my friend (driver) and my other friend both sat in the car. I've let this friend drive my car before with no problems. I just would like to know what will happen?? Will my insurance pay for damages or will his insurance cover it? Will this affect my insurance rates or his? I just want to make sure before we start getting this situation handled I know what I'm getting into. My friend said that his insurance will pay for the damages, but I have to pay my deductible and my insurance(21st Century) will take care of it, and that his insurance (Farmers) will cut a check to 21st for the damages. I dont know how much of this is true or what is true I would just like to know in advance. Thanks

Why don't you just call both insurance companies from someone else's phone and ask them what everyone's arguing about? "What if I . . . . "

Just ask several of those questions, not all about the subject at hand. Be sure to get very specific clarification from both companies before you decide to make a move. If you do something based on this information I would definitely call 2-3 times and speak with different people to ensure the information is correct.

Good luck! You're in an unfortunate situation

It is pretty simple really. You both call your insurance companies and tell them what happened. Get it over with. The longer you wait, the more contrived the whole story sounds.

"well about 3 weeks ago this happened..."

"oh mr insured why did you wait three weeks.."

The owner's insurance SHOULD NOT go up ... this is a no fault accident ... but again all insurance carriers differ in how they rate policies and whatnot. I worked at Geico and AAA and currently broker for Progressive, and they would not raise your rates based on someone else crashing your car.

Your buddy already said his insurance would pay. that ends the discussion. his insurance rates will go up because HE crashed a car. your insurance company really doesnt have to be involved. I would just deal with his insurance directly. Let them pay for everything.

The only way to know exactly what is true is to call the insurance companies and tell them everything. Your buddy obviously cannot afford $5k+ to cover the damage, so insurance needs to be involved. That is his fault, his problem. He should pay for any deductibles or costs. That is what happens when you *&%$ up.

The insurance company took care of all the damages on my car. I will post some pics tomorrow so you can all see how it turned out. Thanks again to everyone that chipped in and helped out.
