Radar detectors on the 14 fwy
#11
I got nailed on the 14 going north bound, just before I got off at Escondido. It was for 83 in a 65, two years ago. I didn't have my radar detector in the car at the time.
I've picked up Ka on my Valentine 1, on the 14 freeway many times. The last time I remember, it went off telling me a cop was ahead, although I didn't see any. I came up over a rise, and sure enough, there was one sitting on the side of the freeway.
Valentine 1's cost about twice that of the Costco items but once you have one, you'll understand why they are worth it.

CHP on the westbound 210 nailed me with lazer. I was going about 10 over, just keeping up with traffic. My Passport 9500ix picked it up, probably too late. He didn't pull me over.

I've rarely encountered CHP using laser, but rather driving using KA-Band. Irvine PD got me good with laser going to the Toll Road (in my Volvo no less)
Valentine 1 ain't got shit on Laser

Some CHP use a combination of Laser and X band (from 2 experiences on freeways)
My 9500ix gave off a laser warning, then a very very strong X band reading as the CHP vehicle passed me.
