Got that?
i'd take purgatory over eternity with the devil.

but why can't we, as a people, be responsible for our own "sins" an not have to rely on JC to "take one for the team?"
Because as evidence in the Garden and other chapters in the book, we can't handle it ourselves as history has suggested.

As a matter of fact that is one of the core principles for being a Christian. We can't solve all of our problems and sins. We reach to him to provide needed outcomes, whether good or bad.

On a serious note, I would ASSUME (only assume) that the hardcore Christians are ANTI-Gays then? Pleas chime in, I'd like to hear your opinion.

Broad generalizations to follow, someone correct me if I'm wrong:

Ok. While Christianity and Catholicism are both rooted in the belief of Jesus and God, they are two different beasts.

Catholicism believes that there is a hierarchy below Christ, and that humans can be more holy than other humans. That's why there are Saints, who are/were human, but are glorified as well. That's why a normal human confesses to a Priest, and a Priest confesses to the Pope (is that how it works?) Priests typically cannot get married. I don't know the justification behind that.

There is no hierarchy in Christianity. Every human is human. Only God is God. (Oh, JC was human AND God, but He's the one and only exception, don't let that confuse you.) Every human is a sinner by nature. Every human has the opportunity to build a relationship with God. No middleman required. Pastors can get married and are encouraged to do so.

Technically, believing in Christ as Savior for your sins is all it takes to be saved and go to heaven. That's the Faith part mentioned on page 1. However, your faith is not very strong if your actions do not back it up. Kind of like saying your car is fast... but it's not. You need both. People are redeemed by their faith. Faith is justified through works. God does not care how long it takes you to find Him, as long as you do. The robber hanging next to Jesus on the cross led a life of crime, but because he accepted JC before he died, he was accepted into heaven.

Heaven is an eternity WITH Christ. Hell is eternity WITHOUT Christ. Purgatory is neither Heaven nor Hell.

Got that?
I'm slowly taking it in

BC, your questions are seemingly hitting square on the roman catholic dogma.

im not roman catholic, i believe a lot of the rc church, while in its official theology is inline with mainstream evangelicals (presbyterians, baptist, methodists...), has misled ppl in what christianity means. im not saying rc arent christians, but because of their practices and apparent lack of biblical teachings, you get a lot of ppl like nicotunes who end up being jaded with religion and get a false sense of god.

i just wanted to point this out that it seems you have direct issues with roman catholicism, and which i have no defense for. im not saying RC is bad, and no roman catholic believer is not a christian, just the rc church overshadows a lot of what christianity is really all about (mary, virginal birth, sacraments...), and thats simply jesus.

edit, i seem to like repeating myself....
