Default Question on Salvage vehicles

Just wondering if a car has been stolen and stripped of some of the OEM parts is the car considered salvage?

description: I found a car I like (which will be use as a fun project car of some sort) but it is at a auction and has a salvage title but the only thing I saw missing was the steering wheel and hub, radio, shift knob, buttons on the AC controller, both Seats, tail lights. The body frame has no visible damage at all.

The engine looked like it was untouched and very clean but the auction site wont let you start it up .. its pretty much buy as it is.

Just curious if police repo (stripped car) is considered salvage or is salvage mean frame damage?

thx ahead for any input

salvage can be from theft or damage. i think once its "totaled" by the insurance company, it gets a salvaged flag for the next person who tries to register it

^ I agree.

A car we be listed as salvaged anytime an insurance company deems the vehicle to be totalled (wether due to theft or damage).

you can still insure it though - check w/ your insurance company...the only thin you should really consider is if you are going to be reselling the car later on down the road..it's value wont be much due to the title.

I work for Farmers Ins., salvage title just mean that the veh is to expensive to put back to its prior loss condition. If its a theft the likely hood of it having frame damage is slim. If the veh is total because of a wreck you need to look very closely for frame damage. It doesn't take much for a convertible to be total because of frame damage. This also vary from state to state. I hope this help.
