Question about traffic school
#22
Another correction for you people. The infraction can be either on your DMV record, cleared from the record completely, or ON the record BUT noted as though you have taken traffic school.
Depending on your insurance company, they may or may not charge you for infractions in the third category. For example, 21st Century will NOT charge you for an infraction unless it is on your record and not noted as cleared (i.e., they look at your points only). Mercury, on the other hand, will charge you for every thing on your record, even if it clearly says you've taken traffic school. According to 21st Century, what Mercury does is illegal, but according to Mercury there's some random BS out-of-state clause that allows them to do it. Who's right? I don't know, but Mercury was cheaper for me either way. My personal story is that I had two notes on my record, but both showed traffic school, and I had zero points. Mercury tried to raise my premium because of both of them, and I went to the courthouse to get it cleared up. The clerk took one off the record, but said some long annoying story about why the other one has to stay on there.
Either way, my DMV record now only shows one violation (out of 5 speeding tickets in 4 years), but also notes that it was cleared via traffic school. Mercury's response? I have one violation, period.
Thumbs down for Mercury, but at least they're cheap.

You were lucky because all the tickets were in the same time period, so b4 the traffic schools were in the system you were already requesting it again.
What was the total pricetag for the 3 tickets is the main question

2nd ticket for speeding/double yellow into and out of carpool lane - 847.00
3rd ticket for speeding - 420.00
thank god my parents bailed me out of that mess. they're making me pay them back though.
-edit- good point dirtypwntang, it is variable on insurance companies. i have state farm, and i believe they look at violation clearance. that was 3 years ago though. i'll keep you posted on what happens with these three.

the first violation is completely removed from your driving record when you take traffic school.
the second violation appears on your record (but it looks like its the first one since the "real first one" isnt there), but it will state that it has been cleared of any points due to completion of traffic school.
thats the way it is. trust me, i look at peoples driving records every day.
as for which companies charge or not, thats something you're gonna have to take up with your personal insurance company/agent. i dont want to bad mouth any company, even unintentionally.
and length of driving record that insurance companies look back on, is 3 years. and that goes for accidents too. after 3 yrs, tickets and accidents arent counted against you on your insurance... except DUI's, suspensions, and other 2point driving violations. those will stay on the record and be counted for, for 7yrs.

maybe it's been three years and you didnt remember lol. otherwise, i'm not sure that's allowable. maybe she was diggin you hahaha.
off-topic. is it just me or is it really difficult to not speed? i'm not really an aggressive driver, but sometimes i'll just be driving on the freeway and i'll glance down at my odometer and i'll be going like 90 miles an hour.. it's really annoying, i get caught all the time.
