Default Question about body panels/parts for s2k

Hey, got into an argument with my dad over this.

What happens now that the s2k is discontinued? Are we screwed on getting new body panels if we got into an accident or new parts if something breaks down?

How long will Honda continue to support the s2k in this manner?

Am I able to go to the Honda dealership and buy body panels for like an 89 Acura Integra still? Is there a premium because it's so old? Do I have to wait longer or something?

Thanks!

I think parts will be still available for the next eight years. Its where the money at. Think of the wear and tear of the car, there will be replacement parts for those. As for body panels, there are aftermarket replacements although nothing beats OEM fitment.

I think legally Honda has to provide spare parts for the car for 10 years after it has ceased production.

I definitely did...however he'll just continue arguing his point as a matter of opinion and disregard all evidence I have to say differently...

Here's some of my response in an email:
I did some research, wanted to make sure I didn't have any issues with parts, both internal and external, found this:

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Savin...inued-cars.aspx
Honda S2000 came in as number 3 as the best car to find that is currently discontinued
"If you can find one of these roadsters, grab it."
It also stated that the residual value of the vehicle after 5 years would be 35%. Which seemed low to me.

I went and looked at what a new Civic's resale value would be in 5 years, it was 37%.
http://www.kbb.com/new-cars/honda/civic/20...value?id=261074
The Honda Accord was rated as the highest resale value of any car and it was at 40% for 5 years.
https://www.alg.com/pdf/JF10_RVR_US.pdf

I also wanted to see if I could find parts from a dealership for old discontinued honda/acura cars. Acura dealerships provide body panels and parts for the 89 Acura Integra which was discontinued in 89 and the newer model was discontinued in 2007.

The Honda CR-X, which was discontinued in 1991 and NOT replaced by ANY other model, I can also find parts for that, both body and internal from the dealership, 20 years later.
http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/hpa_p...php?vin=&Label[ProductID]=CRX&Label[YearID]=1991&Label[DoorID]=2&Label[GradeID]=HF&Label[AreaID]=KA&Label[TransmissionID]=5MT&Label[SectionID]=BODY+/+AIR+CONDITIONING&Label[IllustrationGroupID]=FRONT+FENDER&ProductID=9&YearID=30&DoorID=1&Grade ID=64&AreaID=2&TransmissionID=3&SectionID=8&Illust rationGroupID=6068
Like I said though, he'll just continue arguing that the car is a bad decision...it's frustrating

Have him drive one and see if he still thinks it's a bad decision.
