Default Putting a small LCD TV outdoor

im moving into a new place with a patio deck in the back.. im thinking about putting a small LCD TV (<30 in) under the deck and was wondering if i could just getaway with putting a weatherproof tarp or somekind of weatherproof material over it.. anyone ever do this? was looking into getting a weatherproof TV, but they are pricey..

You should be able to find a way to divert water I would think. If you want to physically cover the TV with a tarp or something that'd work fine but what if you forget?

Better to somehow build it a shelter of some sort.

There are little ....awnings.... that are used over store windows or over store front doors sometimes to keep water away, that'd probably work pretty well. Might even keep the bright light off the screen too.

im not too worried about rain getting on it as there is a patio deck over it..more worried about mist and fog that builds up in the morning.. ill have to see how the patio deck holds up in the rain b4 doing this though.

if all else fails, ill just buy a good warranty for it. its going to be a dynex or something going back there anyways..

Mist and fog is no worries from my experience, had a LCD in a bathroom that would get very steamy and never had an issue. Fog outside might be slightly worse if its for extended periods of time but ....this is southern cali after all.

if its not in an area to get soaked, you will be ok. your going to get bugs and stuff all over it with the heat it generates but thats not a big deal. I had a tv in my backyard for a while. the patio was covered.. we just threw a blanket over it

thats what im probably going to do.. but put some waterproof cover over it..probably going to put a bracket back there to hold the 28-32" lcd. and cover it whenever i use the TV

btw: those outdoor TV's are frikkin expensive.
