I feel for you. I had a 12-week commute from Pasadena to Santa Ana. Now, I have a 4-week commute from Pasadena to Thousand Oaks. Local projects suck; I'd rather do the flying thing.
If your company reimburses your miles (technically the difference between the normal commute to your office and the new project location), consider getting a rental car from Enterprise or Avis; you'll likely break even.
If you're interested in short term housing, I recommend Oakwood (www.oakwood.com). They do charge a percentage on top of normal housing rates.
Lastly, there's always Craigslist.

When I worked in Glendale, there were numerous corporate housing options. One is the Days Inn off Pacific, right off the 134. Another one was on Glenoaks, Homestead:http://www.homesteadhotels.com/
