405N->110N->5N -- A little longer still. Adds about 10 miles on from the route mapquest gave you. This one works well if you need to avoid the 5 though. The 110 dumps you off right before the Western exit, so you can skip any backups on the 5 (and there are a lot sometimes)
this one looks awesome, and I'm all for skipping over the daily suicide that is the 5fwy 
I'm close to both the 55 and the 405. I'm about 2-3 miles from both. 55 I'm near the dyer entrance, and 405 I'm near the Fairview entrance. But like I said, I'd rather stay away from the 5 at all cost.

I would rather poke myself in the eye repeatedly than ever touch the 405. The 5 is much less congested, I would strongly suggest you looking at getting on the 5 and just taking it all the way.
