405N->110N->5N -- A little longer still. Adds about 10 miles on from the route mapquest gave you. This one works well if you need to avoid the 5 though. The 110 dumps you off right before the Western exit, so you can skip any backups on the 5 (and there are a lot sometimes)
Thanks this one looks awesome, and I'm all for skipping over the daily suicide that is the 5fwy

I'm close to both the 55 and the 405. I'm about 2-3 miles from both. 55 I'm near the dyer entrance, and 405 I'm near the Fairview entrance. But like I said, I'd rather stay away from the 5 at all cost.

Good thing you won't hit any traffic going to work. I know that cuz my friend's gf lives in Glendale and he drives there a lot.

Make sure you check the 110 traffic before you leave though. It can get backed up in downtown, though shouldn't be bad if you leave early enough.

I would rather poke myself in the eye repeatedly than ever touch the 405. The 5 is much less congested, I would strongly suggest you looking at getting on the 5 and just taking it all the way.

Take the train. Metrolink will take you to Union Station and its one stop into Glendale.

My commute is 1 mile and I still bit@ch.

you'd get use to the trip by the first week...besides if you get bored you can also switch cars and mix it up...
