Default Powder Coating Wheels

Hey guys I'm a noob with a few questions about powder coating my stock wheels on my 05 Rio Yellow Pearl.

1. Anyone know of any good powder coating places in orange county and know prices?

2. Any warnings about powder coating stock wheels?

3. What color would you do on Rio Yellow Pearl?
WHITE, GUN METAL, DARK BRONZE, FLAT BLACK, GLOSS BLACK?

Powder coating will weaken the wheels, stock wheels have cracked after powdercoating.

if you are not planning on tracking the car... Dont be afraid on powder coating the wheels. They look better than painting IMO...

I had a Red Volk ce28 powder coated never had any problem since i dont track it. I would have painted it but i could never find the right color that i wanted.

down side to it is if you want to paint them again.. you will need to send it to a special place to fry em in some acid to get the powder coat out, i think that would kill it, or weaken it more... so if you decide to powdercoat them do a research it should give you more idea.

reason why is

Then by stressing them with autoXing speeds and forces, they cracked.

Bear in mind most of those laps were on a very high grip airport surface.

not really.

most high end custom wheel color change is done by painting, we are not talking about no skill rattle bomb autozone special here. Depends how deep of a pocket you have, you can pretty much custom tone/mix any color and finish you want. you can get a blue pearl finish on a black base(think: volks mag blue on steriod). There's way way way more color choice(and secondary finish) when comes to painting.

when it comes to cost, a set of custom paint job on wheel cost way more than run of the mill powdercoating. when done right, they are as tough as your oem finish(which is machine aluminum with clearcoat)

pc is very cost effection, but not all place does the same quality of work. when you sand blast the oem finish, the guy have to control the speed and medium to use, if you using something too agression, it acts like a grinding wheel to the rims. Some blasting medium takes aluminium(soft) out like it's butter.

of course the heating cycle could introduce more human error to the equation.

just paint it, powder coating makes your wheels weaker and easier to bend...
