Default payment from overseas for an item

I'm selling my EMS and gentleman from Australia wants to buy it. He's new on the forums and doesn't have any "vouches". He's willing for me to have the funds available in my account before sending the item over.

What type of payment should I receive from him? (obviously not paypal)
what other payment options are safe

I hate selling stuff to people overseas. I almost got ripped off once and had a bank account closed because of his counterfeit check.

Just do what I did and MAKE SURE the check clears before you actually send the item.

The guy kept begging me to send the item and I told him that I would as soon as my bank clears the check, glad I did.

Bank issued cashiers checks or postal money orders are usually safe but EVERYTHING can be fake these days, just becareful.

lol, are u kidding?

accepting paypal from a unverified person w/o references is pretty scary.

Sellers are at the whim of paypal's "chargeback" policy, aka scamming buyers.

If he's a verified paypal user though, it shouldn't be a problem, eh?
I use paypal all the time, and it's worked out great for me.

Paypal is extremely convenient (& costly in the long-run), but I myself have only 1 bad experience out of hundreds and hundreds of purchases/sales. Lately though, I have minimized the amt of Paypal transactions that I do, mainly because I know that if something bad happens, I'm $hit outta luck

But I do hear ALOT of horror stories from people who aren't very selective about who they buy stuff or sell stuff to.

Just do your research and best judgment before buying/selling and using Paypal

I'm skeptical about over seas bank checks being safe...
