Usually when I know its a scam - I go to the site and I fill out fake stuff on the login like "Member: F*CKURMOMINTHEA$$@MYPLACE.WITH.NO.COM Password: DOM.ALLNIGHTLONG" You get the idea

I know condom is spelled wrong

Hahaha have them try to login w/ that

I got the exact same email. The link will take you to a page that looks just like Paypal's. However, if you look at the address line, you'll see it's an IP address, and NOT Paypal's. I get a kick out of these things, seeing how well they are put together, and they get better all the time! I'm sure they 'get' a lot of people with these scams though.

OMG, i just got scammed last night about a "second chance offer" from eBay. be careful, abou those..

the guy used ebay layout and all that stuff, but i knew it wasnt from ebay because of two things..

1) ebay always uses @ebay.com email addresses.
2) when i check "my ebay" the item was not up for "second chance offer"

good luck, and stay alert!
You really got scammed?! Is that for reals?! If so sorry to hear bro, but if you knew that was all true about the ebay stuff (@ebay.com email etc) why buy it anyways?! Looks like it was to cheap to be true. Ken's hardtop looks awesome! Great price too John why don't buy one off of him Good luck and hoepfully you get your money back.

Kind regards,
Joe

Woah how many of you guys also bid on the Mugen coilovers that ended just a while ago? I also got a second chance offer for those but I figured it was fake because they didn't even know what my real ebay username was!! Stupid scammers.

Just remember, paypal will ALWAYS address you by your first and last name. I do admit though, they are getting quite smarter. Damn them!

yeah, all the scammer do this these days. You have to check the link that your clicking before you click it. I'm sure that link brought you to a page other than the paypal domain. Most of the links bring you to some site with an address such as
as http://168.48.214.84/something/blah blah

this fools most though. When you hover over the link look at the bottom left
hand corner of your browser or right click the link to see where the link actually goes.

its the same kind of thing when you post a url on this forum. you first type what you want the link to say, and then you type in where the link actually goes. If your smart, you won't fall for this crap.

If you notice on the lower right....there is no "lock" icon showing that it is secure...thats what tipped me off at first..
Also, all that the secure icon means (https) is that data sent over the internet is sent via an encrypted channel. You must make sure that those links actually take you to the appropriate domain. Any Cracker or script kiddie can easily secure there website to spoof you .

Yeah, but getting those "trusted" certificates that don't pop up a warning are hard to get (and also expensive).

You still need to check. In fact, whenever I get an email telling me eBay or PayPal has a problem with me, I just figure I'll just visit the site myself (not by the included link) and if they have a problem with me, they will tell me so when I log in.
