Parking Backwards

Parking Backwards
So we went to this place in Santa Monica a week ago and parked in a parking structure. We were driving through this one way parking structure when we came upon a few spots that were not diagonal like most of the spots, they were straight in. I reversed into the spot because it was up against a wall and I figured it would be easier to pull out of it later in case there was traffic in the structure. Anyway, we came back from dinner and found a ticket there that was given and said "Head in parking only." I have heard that in diagonal spots it is illegal to park facing outwards because obviously when you pull out of the spot you would be going the wrong direction, but this was not diagonal and on top of that there was no sign that said such a thing about head in parking.
Anyone had any experience with this? It's not a huge ticket but I'd prefer not to give in to this kind of BS ticket if at all possible.

i'm not sure on the rules, but i don't think you're supposed to park backwards anywhere.
but who knows. you should look into it and see if you can do something about it. it's always good to know.

WOW I have never heard of this but different cities and counties have different ordinances. If they have signs posted try to find a route to stall you were parked in, without driving past one.

Sometimes it's a private company that works in conjunction with the police. Since you were on private property you have to play by their rules. It's a BS ticket they issue to make money. Unfortunately there's probably not much you can do. Although it's worth a try to fight it and say there were no sign posted anywhere stating that you weren't allowed to back in.

I was advised against reversing into spaces when in the States, something to do with your cars only having a plate on the rear and if hidden because of parking "the wrong way" you can be found to be causing an offence.?
