How about WORST tank ever?
I've gotten about 150 on my worst tank. It was the first 2 days of owning the S

My worst full tank ever was 100 miles on the track. Gas light was on with no bars as I left to gas up.

Around town I regulalarly have 21-22MPG which is about 220miles to the tank. The best I got was 270 from CT to VA, coming back it was lot worse, snow and the S don't mix well, especially on RE050s

For the entire life of my 2001, I've typically gotten 200/tank and that is with some moderately aggressive driving, but not necessarily a lot of VTECs or WOT or anything. If I am on the highway for an entire tank, regardless of how fast I'm going, I get at least 250-270 per tank. My highest has been 279 before I panicked about running out of gas.
But yes... now I am starting to see my mileage consistently rise as I mellow out and pass by a $3.79/gal sign every morning to work. =P
There seems to be a huge variation in miles/tank that people are posting here... I just realized that those that rev-match and shift more-or-less sequentially through the gears (such as myself) are gonna have worse mileage. But NOT doing that wears down the engine and the synchros over time, I'm thinking, so I'll keep doing that. More fun, anyway.
Besides, if you mellow out enough to be a gas mileage freak, you might as well move on and get a different car that's made to maximize exactly that. I cringe at knowing that I could be doing the world a service by selling my old-ass S for too little, and getting myself into debt again with a hybrid.
But I have such a deep sentimental attachment to my car.... it's hard to take that step. I can't let go of how wonderful the shifting is, and I tell myself "you should have a car that lets you be nimble on the dangerous roads", "you should have a car that's paid off", "don't worry, even though you have to take your car into the shop once a month, it's still saving ya money", etc.... lol
FYI, I just got my engine and diffs mounts replaced and wow the car is not feeling sloppy anymore! Woo hoo! I was thinking the car was just getting old and/or the tranny was getting worn out.
I think my roommate is right... I talk too much. =P
