Ok back in December i traded a 94 Del Sol S for a 92 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo. Now the guy i traded it to got a couple tickets and they came to me because he never registered the car in his name.

Let me preface this by saying the guy that i traded the car to in a shiesty MF'er that i have known for a while.

Now, i got a notice in the mail saturday that the Del Sol had been impouded on a 30 day hold. It was impounded on 9-18 and i have not received a phone call from him saying anything about this.

Heres were it gets hairy. I AM STILL THE REGISTERED OWNER. I am also the ONLY ONE that can get the car out of impound. Now if i just let it sit and dont get it out, I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE for the impound fees even after they sell the car. SO, is it an F'ed move on part to just go and get the car out and say forget him and just go about my business as if the car were mine.

Any input would be appreciated

Also if i do get it out, I will be selling it promptly....anyone interested??


******UPDATE******* The GOOD, thhe BAD, and The UGLY


So i go look at the car today. As i walk u:

THE GOOD:
I see a nice set of ROTA slipstreams on it along with a carbon fiber hood. I think to myself, "this is already worth it to get it out". So i get a little closer and i notice EVO VIII Recaro Seats. . As i look inside i see a nice Alpine HU and an Oil pressure guage. Im thinkin "SCORE, FREE PARTS". I decide i might as well pop the hood to make sure its driveable.

As i slowly lift the hood i find the following:
B18C JDM Type R motor
CTR Tranny
Rev Hard Intake Manifold
Full NOS fogger kit
AEM CAI
Full MSD ignition
HASPORT Mounts
Custom Headers
Spoon Cam gears
The tops of TEIN Coilovers
ETC....

ALOT OF NICE STUFF BASICALLY.

I also see some wiring for what looks to be a monster system.

So i go and ask them how much to release and they tell me the following:

THE BAD.....

I need to go talk to the detectives at the Wilcox station in Hollywood to get a release. So i go there and they tell me who the driver was, and that the title has started to be transferred, but cannot be completed until the car is out of impound. Well the driver and the name they told me was not the shiesty kid i traded the car to.

THE UGLY.....

The names are some cats i used to do alot of racing and motor swaps with a few years ago. So i decide to go see him and he said that he was trying to get the title switched over so he could get the car out. So i told him that i think they may only release it to me and he asks me if i could get it out for him.

So i am left with a decision.

Do i get the car out and keep it
Do i get the car out for him and save him money from the 30 day hold and he gets his nice car back (which by the way after talking to him is a fully NOS built type r motor)
Do i get the car out and charge him for the 30 days plus a little more
Do i let it go and try and buy it at auction so that im clear of any wrong doing

It sucks cuz after looking at all the stuff on it i was really lookin forward to driving it

Did you mail in your part of the pick slip or fill out a release of liablity form from the dmv?

THUG?? ME??? OK . Im not worried about any repercussions from him. I gave him the pink, and i did sign it, he prolly lost it or it may be in the car, i dont know. No other record of the trade. I never filled the release of liability form out either. Just thought he would have registered it.

Ah well im gonna just get the car....at least go see if maybe he did a swap or put in a nice stereo system

I dont know. I would probably just show them proof the car was no longer mine. Karma is a B!@cth and its something I try not to have to worry about.

If you traded cars with this guy and you got something in return, why would you want to basically steal the car back from him and sell it for personal gain?

i think you missed the part where I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE IMPOUND FEES. So he is still fuc#in me over on this deal!

I mean how do i show proof the car aint mine...i have nothing and they have a DMV computer that says its mine. Who they gonna believe
