Default Oil Filter

Ok, so I'm lazy and always get my oil changed for me. Did they put the wrong filter on? They put on a:
15400-POH-305

And I thought out cars needed the:
15400-PCX-004

I aked just to make sure, and they double checked and said that it is what Honda puts on the car.

Did they eff up?

Here are a few links from vendors that specify the correct filter for our car:

This was found thru google search:

you're arguing with a moderator of the Under the Hood forum on s2ki.com, not to mention I am an S2000-whore.

the OLD filter used from MY1999-MY2003 was the 15400-P0H-305. (this was also the filter used for the entire honda line up at the time) With the introduction of the PLM filter, the P0H was replaced with the PCX. The P0H can be used but only if the other filter was not available, but you would have to use extremely short drain intervals. This was also a general purpose filter for the Honda lineup. Halfway through MY2003, the new PCX filter was developed specifically for the S2000. This in part, was due to a banjo bolt recall which caused some scored #4 cylinders. Basically there wasn't enough oil pressure to properly ensure proper oil flow to the #4 cylinder (this cylinder is furthest from the pump). So in accordance with that, they also developed a new filter that would allow higher oil flow pressures, and better specs to match the S2000's oil flow needs. This is the current filter for the S2000, used and created since halfway through MY2003-current. While the P0H filter is still ok to use, it is suggest ONLY for short drain intervals. Otherwise the recommended is the PCX filter.

So whatever crack baby is telling you there is no S2000 filter, is just plain wrong. In fact, half the time the dealerships don't even REALIZE there is an oil filter just for the S2000.

Want more proof? Sure, no problem.

Old OEM universal filter = 15400-POH-305
Made by Filtech (For all Hondas)

New OEM universal filter = 15400-PLM-A01
Made by Fram (Replaces 15400-POH-305. Except NOT for use on the S2000)

New OEM "S2000 only" filter = 15400-PCX-004
Made by Toyo Roki (Same size as old, but different design)

Man, I wish Travis would have another tech day soon.

Maybe we can bribe him with some Newcastle?

Ok, so after a bit of explaining and haggling with them, they ordered the right filter and I'm having that put on tomorrow morning. I've been babying the car all day

Who are "they"? What dealership did you take it to? What were your impressions of them?

Since we live in the same area, we'll probably be frequenting the same dealerships.
