Default Normal Temp Gauge reading ?

So I've got an '06 and in prep. for MM6 I'm keeping an eye on the tires, oil and temp. gauge.
With 6000 miles on the clock you would think I'd know my normal temp reading.
But I've been watching it and it is on 7 or 8 bars during normal driving.
So I searched and found tons of posts from folks saying 3 bars is the norm.
I'm wondering if the '06 cluster is diff. from other years.
Reading the manual it states reading should be about the middle of the gauge (page 52) and I see that according to the diagram of the cluster (page 51) I've got 20 bars in total.

So the question is what is everyone else running temp wise on a normal basis?
Just want to be ready for some hot temps on the MM6.

Thanks all

Interesting, I guess the '04+ gauges are different when they switched over to a lower redline. On pre '04, 3 bars is the maximum anyone should ever seen under normal conditions. 3 bars = engine's basically warmed up. Don't know about AP2.

Yes, the gauges are different on AP2's... it sounds like your temperature is fine

You're fine. AP2 reads different from AP1 as stated above.

BC doesn't have an '06 (sig is bogus ) but had a GPW AP2.

C-Ya at MM6!!!

My '06 takes about 4-5 minutes to warm up to 8 bars, then stays there no matter what. I think the owner's manual says no Vtec until you have 8 bars, but I'm too lazy right now to go the car to check. I'll try to remember to look tomorrow morning .

Remember, even when it shows it's warmed up (in 5 mins) that's only water temp and not oil temp! Don't beat on it until the oil is warmer!
