Noob Question (Tires)
Alright you guys might give me hard time on this but i have a noob tire question I just found out the rear tires are different size from the front … I had my s for about a yr now and it’s time for some new rear tires … so my question is can I go with 45’s instead of 40’s ??? does it make a differences.
I currently I have 215/42ZR17 (Falken Ziex) in the front and 245/40R17 (Advan s4) bought the car with this tires on.

where 245/xx/17, xx is the sidewall height (A/R), which is the % of the width (both measured in mm). So a 245/40/17 has a sidewall that is 40% of the total witdth (245mm). It's probably best to stay OE sizes so your speedo is not off, but you can do whatever you want/thinks looks best. Some people put larger A/R, while some like super low profile tires aka rubber bands, usually on larger rims though. It's your preference in the end.
usually whatever i choose though, i try to match the front and rear a/r as much as possible, otherwise it might look goofy. For example, when i was a noob, my first set of tires had a smaller than normal a/r in the front (215/40) and a larger than normal a/r in the rear (245/45), so it looked really crappy! Big in the back and thin in the front haha

@JDMQuip thanks thats what i'll do .
@Chris_Lum thats how i was looking at it ... having a bigger a/r would make the car look flush but didnt know it would mess with the speedo ... so imma go with the 40 keep it oem ... and for having different a/r well like i said thats how the last owner had them. but once my front once go out i'll keep that in mind.
thanks again guys.

215 front is tiny, I'm assuming you're AP1 wheels?
If you can't fit 225 up front you have too much drop or the wrong size as the sidewall height shouldn't be much different. I'd rather have more tire than more drop as far as handling goes.

Quick answer.
215/45/17 & 245/40/17 (stock for AP2)
or
225/45/17 & 255/40/17 (one size bigger for AP2)
Both of the same brand and model. This will keep your sidewall side/size matching to the eye.
