Default NEED words of wisdom

hello,

im hoping and seeking for a job/position at a car dealership

so i got a couple questions:

1. should i just call all the car dealerships around my location, (irvine, OC area) and ask them if they are hiring?

2. does most car dealerships accept part time jobs?

3. can anybody that worked at a car dealership chime in? give me advice, pointers?

4. anybody knows any car dealerships in the OC area, irvine, thats hiring? =]

just seeking advice, as im a college student trying to find a part time job to fill up my schedule a bit and im interested in gaining experience in sales, hence the car dealership.

5. anyone that knows of any cellphone places, car dealerships, thats hiring? =]

well im just looking for a part time job in the field of sales and stuff and just want some opinions and pointers =]

thank you for reading!

no part time in sales. its good money if your good at it. Its fun and rewarding if you like to work and you are self motivated. if not... then look for something else.

the cell phone thing is good.. but i think those guys work even harder, just less hours then we do at the dealerships. they make decent money.

good luck.

try customer service representative(trust me, helps a lot in sales) Listening to customer's complaints will help you understand the customer's perspective.

I've been in the car business for over 5 years. I just left to work for the family business. There are no part time jobs in car sales. Hours are really long. I worked an average of 70 hours a week. If you do it right and can sell you can make a lot of money. I made over 120k last year. But with a weakening US economy and gas prices going up higher and higher. Going into car sales at this time would be a bad idea. My income this year has been cut in half. That is why I decide to leave. Plus having no weekends off sucks. I sold Porsche and Audi by the way.

If you are still interested after reading this. I would suggest you start with a good car group like Pensky or Power group. They provide go training and foundation for sales. The Rusnak group is also very good this is where I started my sales career.

Also internet sales is a good place to start because most car sales are leading that way. Gone are the days for floor sales. Growing mentality of "I want it my way and at my price," has lead to a big boom in internet sale in the last five years. Plus you are given more margin to sell because most internet sales are volume based.

Good luck.

If you have any question feel free to pm and ask. I can also give you some pointers.
