Default NEED HELP!

I have an 03 GPW with 47,xxx miles on it.
I just bought the car 1 month ago??? any ideas?

The only thing that was changed was the exhaust 2 weeks ago and the only
thing i can think of is the fact that there is no gasket between cat and the exhaust
would that actually throw a check engine light??
I was actually going to buy one this week because it didnt have one on there originally when i swapped it out.

It's not the gasket. Have the memory retrieved from the ECU and see what the code is. A quick trip to the dealer should clear it up.

Read this - tells you everything you want to know about the check engine light. It could be as easy as your gas cap being loose. This will also tell you how to reset the light, if you find the problem.

hey xuberant take your car to autozone and borrow their obd2 scanner.. its free to borrow.... simply hook it to your car to the computer thing which is on the drivers side sorta where your right knee would be when u sitting in the car.....

read some codes and then u will know what is going on.... write down the codes then come recheck them here......

Don't listen to what backcracker is saying about bent valves etc... He's just trying to scare you....

I bet you anything its gonna be like p0301... just my guess! but check it out and let us know.

But before you do anything....check to see if your gas cap is tight. Most of the time, its just a gas cap. Thats what my CEL was.
