Thumbs up Need to change my wheel bearing

Hello,

Today, On my way to work, I heard a harmonic noise come from the right rear of the car. Only when I backed up though It maintained the noise for about 2 feet then went away.

My question is....those people that have had problems with their wheel bearing...did you hear this noise first? I remember on my old car, when the wheel bearing went bad...I heard more of a circular noise kind of like a SHHHHHH...SHHHHHHH something like that...nothing like the noise I am hearing now.

Could anyone please chime in? It is not every time I back up or go forward, it only happened once...this morning.

Thanks, Alex

Hub and Bearings. That side will go bad, and the other side will go bad in a few thousand miles. Change both at the same time, save youself the hassle.

IF you neglect it, drive shaft will be shot, then Diff will be shot.

I replaced the left rear wheel bearing about a year ago. I heard more of the metallic SHHHHH...SHHHHH sound that you where describing on your old car.

Not sure what you heard this morning.

Might be the other side. They can put a stetho up to it and listen to the bearings

Did HONDA do it for you?

Thanks,

But...is that the noise you heard first? In reverse only? Does the sound get louder as time goes? Was it a humming noise? LOL

You got a bad bearing. Trust me. Either that or your diff took a turn. I highly doubt that tho-

Yes, it was a humming noise. I heard the noise first, wasn't in reverse only. I think it's your bearing too. Replace both sides like BC said, I replaced one then the other later.
