i'm looking for a program that'll edit music. pretty straight forward, i just need some input from others and what they use. all help welcome thanks in advanced

are you looking for a recording program? or just something thatt will clip mp3s or wave files?

more along the lines of a program that'll edit (splice, fade, etc.) mp3's and wav's.

ok cool...
adobe has a couple basic programs...
i believe Adobe Soundbooth and Audition...

if youre looking for more complicated programs...
Cuebase 4 or Cakewalk Sonar...

What about some programs for creating background music....

I remember cake...acid/sonic foundry or some names like that, but that was like 8 years ago, anything better/newer out there now?

Check out Audacity. It's free and extremely easy to use. You can download it on their site.

I use Vegas by Sony (they bought Sonic Foundry). Pricey but very easy to use. Also does video and the Suite also has DVD Architect......

i use the old goldwave v 4.25... its very old does everything you listed and its simple and small.....
