Paint isn't gonna match perfect, the answer is to paint the whole tank, bikes aren't like cars, the panels don't touch therefor they need not match perfect in general. Just have the tank repainted if it must be painted and get it close. Simple as that.

I'll get a hold of the guy, they owe me favors.... They've received free helmets etc and I was a manager where he worked prior doing custom bikes.
